because they need to cover costs. pressing 500-2000 cds isn't exactly cheap
cos there's always a fixed fee for making the "parent" disc plus the
replication
costs, of course. okay, pressing 10,000 or 20,000 isn't cheap either, but
the
cost per cd drops heavily if you make tons at the same time. and, maybe
they
like to share some of that dough with the artists too (oo, that's new).
